Digital Campaign for Igy
Who doesn’t remember what it used to be like, growing up as a 15 year old gay, lesbian or transgender outside of Tel Aviv?
This is why we’re proud to lead Igy’s (Israeli Gay Youth) new digital campaign. Igy set out to raise 150,000 NIS to build new lgbt support bases in the periphery.
In order to create awareness to the project, we asked members of the lgbt community to share on Facebook and Instagram photos of themselves when they were 15 under the hashtag #igi15, write a few words about their experience growing up in their home town and post the link to the crowd funding page on jumpstarter.
The response was immediate and moving. The lgbt community’s biggest celebrities took the call and shared their youth photos and stories. Many straights identified with the project and joined too.
The internet phenomenon drew the media as well. The campaign was covered by Guy Pines, Time Out, City Mouse, Entertainment News, Omri Hayoon‘s blog and more.
Even Michal Heiman, artist, photographer and winner of the Shpilman award, took a like at the project, and selected a few of the photographs and included them in her iconic “Photographer Unknown” series.
It only took a few days till the desired amount of 150,000 NIS!
